Starting Position

Ball begins with the player who will be running forwards. Their partner stands opposite them 5 yards away.

Blue Player passes to Red Player. Red Player returns the ball to Blue Player. Once the ball is played Blue Player moves forward while Red Player moves backwards. Ball should be played between the two players with first time passes, therefore the pass should be accurate to the receivers stronger side and of the correct weighting. Once the desired distance is covered (i.e across the width of the pitch) Blue Player becomes the backwards moving player and runs Red Player forwards.

Variations
  • Two touch (control then pass back)
  • Three touch (control, turn then pass back)
  • Designate the foot to be used (weaker foot only)
  • Designate the surface to be used (laces or inside)
  • Blue Player can hold the ball and throw it to Red Player instead of passing it. Red Player then must volley or head it back to Blue Player, they can also control the ball with a selected body surface (chest, thigh etc) before passing back.
