Attacking Soccer Corners

When delivering a ball into the penalty area from a corner it can generally be played into 3 different areas; the front post region, the back post region and the central area region. The area of delivery will drastically determine the chances of the attacking team scoring. These corners seek to provide a template for teams to use to vary their deliveries while ensuring that every player knows their roles and responsibilities. Each can be adapted to depending on the coaches own beliefs, their teams strengths and weakness, and the oppositions strengths and weaknesses.

Front Post Deliveries: These are deliveries where the ball is aimed into the front part of the area, anywhere between the nearest post and the corner taker. Balls played into this area are usually done so looking for a flick on towards the back post. These corners show how to create a goal scoring opportunity from a near post delivery.

Middle of the Goal Deliveries: These deliveries are aimed into the penalty area, anywhere between the two posts. However, ones that are played into the 6 yard box are usually easily gained by the goalkeeper. For that reason these corners look to isolate one attacker and eliminate the goalkeeper so that attempts can be created.
