A player’s agility levels.
This test quickly and simply tests a player’s ability to turn in different directions and at different angles, although it cannot differentiate between left and right turning ability. The times recorded can be greatly affected by the player’s choice of footwear and the surface it is conducted on. It also does not eliminate human error in timing, so if possible or available use timing gates.
The course is 10m in length and 5m wide. Cones are placed in each corner of the 10m by 5m area to show start, finish and turning points. 4 additional cones are placed in the centre 3.3m apart.
The player undertaking the test begins behind the start cone lying on their front with their hands by their heads. When the signal to go has been given the player must return to their feet and complete the course as quickly as possible. They must sprint to the end cone opposite them, turn and return back to the start line, then run up and back through the 4 middle cones, before turning and sprinting to the far line and back to the start again. The watch is stopped the moment the player passes the end line. They must not touch / knock over any cones (or poles).
