Concentration

Every player will require different levels of concentration during a match, as their position will dictate how often the situations that are developing are within their control or can at least be effected by them. For example a goalkeeper or centre forward may have to wait a significant amount of time between touches, but this should not result in them ‘switching off’ while they are not actively involved. Instead they should always be in a state of readiness to react when they are called upon.  The inability to focus for the duration of a game can be the only factor that prevents players from progressing up to the next level, because as the standard of participation increases the intelligence of the opponents will also increase, resulting in the need for concentration to also increase or the player risks being caught our as they allow their attention to drift elsewhere.
