Goalkeeper

Role: Prevent ball from entering the goal

Areas of operation: Mainly within the 18 yard (penalty) area, as they are allowed to use their hands. Although may be required outside it at times.

Defensive Positional Responsibilities:

• Be alert ensuring the ball is concentrated upon even when in the opponents half.
• Act as a sweeper in the space behind the defence when the team has pushed up.
• Obtain the ball quickly when the ball is played over the top.
• Communicate and direct the defence.

Attacking Positional Responsibilities:

• Remain alert
• Provide good distribution
• Accurate kicking and throwing
• Provide communication
